SK On, a leading South Korean battery manufacturer, has signed a $2.8 billion battery supply deal with Slate Auto, the US electric vehicle startup backed by Jeff Bezos. The deal follows SK’s recent $10B contract with Nissan and marks a major strategic expansion into the North American EV market.
According to The Korea Economic Daily, the agreement will help Slate scale production ahead of its anticipated 2026 consumer launch, with batteries expected to power its lineup of modular electric trucks.
“Slate is quickly moving from concept to contender,” said industry analysts. “Deals like this validate both the capital backing and long-term roadmap of the brand.”
