The company in plain English
Slate Auto is trying to make the vehicle itself simpler, then move choice into the parts and accessory system. The Blank Slate starts as a two-seat electric pickup with one motor, one core platform, and a cabin that does not depend on a built-in touchscreen.
That is more than a styling choice. It creates a manufacturing and ownership test: can a young company build the same useful core repeatedly, deliver it on time, support it with parts, and let owners adapt it without turning every change into a dealer visit?
Where the company came from
Slate Auto says it was established in 2022. Its teams work across California and Michigan, with engineering centered in Michigan and assembly planned for Warsaw, Indiana.
Outside reporting has connected the company to Re:Build Manufacturing and the earlier Re:Car project. That history matters because Slate’s manufacturing argument came before the final consumer vehicle.

The money behind the plan
TOTAL RAISED REPORTED AT SERIES C CLOSE
Approximately $1.4B
TechCrunch reported the total across the company’s disclosed rounds. Funding is runway, not proof of delivery.
Series A, 2023: approximately $111M, led by Jeff Bezos, according to reporting.
Series A and B combined: Slate confirmed approximately $700M in funding to Newsweek in 2025.
Series C, April 2026: $650M led by TWG Global, according to TechCrunch and Bloomberg reporting.

The factory is the credibility test
Slate Auto says it plans to invest nearly $400 million in the Warsaw plant, create more than 2,000 jobs, and contribute up to $39 billion to Indiana’s economy over 20 years. Those are company and public-sector projections. The consumer test is simpler: does the investment produce repeatable vehicles, dependable delivery timing, parts availability, and service beyond one showroom?
The catalog is part of the business model
Owner-installed
Wraps, storage inserts, lighting, interior organization, and smaller bolt-on parts.
Service-installed
Racks, audio, larger accessories, and work that needs tools or alignment.
Ordered with the truck
Body configuration and accessories fitted before delivery.
Slate says it expects more than 200 accessories, with more than 80 percent priced below $500 in its published marketing materials. The independent exchange will matter when owners need alternatives, replacement parts, and resale options.
