The NACS port, included cable, 11 kW onboard charger, and Tesla Supercharger access are practical parts of the ownership story. The 205-mile number is projected, not EPA certified, and towing, temperature, speed, payload, accessories, and battery state all move it.<\/p>\n

These answers focus on the decisions that change how the Slate works as a pickup or SUV. Prices and production details can change, so we link to Slate Auto’s current information where it matters.<\/p>

What SUV configurations does Slate offer?<\/strong><\/summary>

Slate lists the Squareback, Fastback, and Open Air Kit. Squareback and Fastback seat five. Open Air also seats five but has no hardtop or rear windows. The Cargo Kit remains a two-seat configuration for enclosed bed storage.<\/p><\/details>\n

How much more do the SUV versions cost?<\/strong><\/summary>

Slate’s current listings show the Squareback at $29,950, or $5,000 above the $24,950 Blank Slate, and the Fastback at $31,950, or $7,000 above it. These prices exclude destination, taxes, registration, and additional options. Open Air and Cargo Kit pricing has not been published reliably.<\/p><\/details>\n

Can I change from the pickup to an SUV later?<\/strong><\/summary>

Yes. Slate says the vehicle can be converted between pickup and SUV configurations. The SUV kit can be installed by the owner or by a professional, and Slate says no mechanic certification is required for the DIY process.<\/p><\/details>\n

What changes when the rear bench is added?<\/strong><\/summary>

The SUV configuration adds a rear bench for three, bringing seating to five. It also changes the body shell, cargo layout, and safety equipment. Slate describes the SUV kits as including a roll cage, integrated airbags, and additional passenger protection.<\/p><\/details>\n

What is the roof difference between the SUV options?<\/strong><\/summary>

Squareback and Fastback are enclosed, roofed SUV body styles. Slate describes Open Air separately as a five-seat configuration without a hardtop or rear windows. Slate has not yet published every roof material, removable-panel, or structural-load detail, so those should not be assumed.<\/p><\/details>\n

Is the SUV safer than the pickup?<\/strong><\/summary>

The SUV equipment adds a roll cage, a rear bench, integrated airbags, and additional side-curtain airbag coverage. Slate lists four SUV side-curtain airbags versus two for the truck.
