The company in plain English<\/h2>

Slate Auto is trying to make the vehicle itself simpler, then move choice into the parts and accessory system. The Blank Slate starts as a two-seat electric pickup with one motor, one core platform, and a cabin that does not depend on a built-in touchscreen.<\/p>

That is more than a styling choice. It creates a manufacturing and ownership test: can a young company build the same useful core repeatedly, deliver it on time, support it with parts, and let owners adapt it without turning every change into a dealer visit?<\/p>

Where the company came from<\/h2>

Slate Auto says it was established in 2022. Its teams work across California and Michigan, with engineering centered in Michigan and assembly planned for Warsaw, Indiana.<\/p>

Outside reporting has connected the company to Re:Build Manufacturing and the earlier Re:Car project. That history matters because Slate\u2019s manufacturing argument came before the final consumer vehicle.<\/p>

TechCrunch reported the total across the company\u2019s disclosed rounds. Funding is runway, not proof of delivery.<\/p><\/div><\/div>

Series A, 2023:<\/strong> approximately $111M, led by Jeff Bezos, according to reporting.<\/p>

Series A and B combined:<\/strong> Slate confirmed approximately $700M in funding to Newsweek in 2025.<\/p>

The factory is the credibility test<\/h2>

Slate Auto says it plans to invest nearly $400 million in the Warsaw plant, create more than 2,000 jobs, and contribute up to $39 billion to Indiana\u2019s economy over 20 years. Those are company and public-sector projections. The consumer test is simpler: does the investment produce repeatable vehicles, dependable delivery timing, parts availability, and service beyond one showroom?<\/p>
